You often hear the phrase, “If you are not networking…you are not working”. Networking with every person you communicate with can be a potential business contact. Take the time to listen and converse with people that you ordinarily would not consider a networking source. Often times, we will dismiss someone we think is not worth our time or is out of our league. This may be the “very person” you need to help you or connect you with the right source.
What does this mean? Have you ever spoken to someone, and based on your conversation they discovered that what you were talking about or what you did for a living was exactly what they were looking for or that they knew someone who could be a “fit” for you. Networking is not just about connecting with those you are meeting, but also connecting with people they know. Remember, everyone knows someone, and that is the key to effective networking. They might not be who you need today, but it may be the person you are looking for tomorrow.
By continuing to contact, network and speak with others, you are creating the connections you may need in the future. Networking does have power!
