There’s been a lot of discussion lately about whether men should be allowed to compete in women’s sports. As a women’s empowerment organization, we at P.O.W.E.R. felt it was important to share our perspective and chime in on this sensitive topic.

P.O.W.E.R.’s mission has always been to support, uplift, and create opportunities for women. We believe in celebrating women’s achievements and making sure every woman’s hard work is recognized. Sports are a powerful part of that story—they’re about more than just competition. They offer women and girls a chance to push themselves, build confidence, and experience the pride that comes from reaching their goals.

That’s why we feel strongly about preserving fairness in women’s athletics. Let’s face it; biology makes a difference. After puberty, males typically have greater muscle mass, bone density, and cardiovascular capacity—advantages that don’t completely disappear, even with hormone therapy. These differences affect not just the outcome of a game or race, but the safety of the athletes and the integrity of the competition itself.

This isn’t about exclusion or closing doors. It’s about making sure women’s progress isn’t reversed, and that the opportunities women have fought for remain meaningful. When women compete against one another, they know the playing field is truly level. That’s what gives every scholarship, team spot, and victory its real value.

We’re passionate about this issue because we know how important it is for women and girls to have spaces where their achievements are respected and their efforts fairly rewarded. As we see this controversy play out, we want to be clear: empowering women means protecting their right to fair competition and fighting for the opportunities that allow them to shine.

We share our perspective not to spark division, but to highlight what’s at stake for so many young women who look to sports for confidence, growth, and belonging. Our hope is to spur ongoing conversations rooted in empathy and understanding, with everyone working together to create arenas where all women can flourish.

No matter how this debate evolves, P.O.W.E.R. remains dedicated to supporting women. We’ll continue to advocate for dignity, fairness, and spaces where women’s efforts—and dreams—are honored
